The origins of Bell helmets

In 1954, Richter founded Bell Helmets in his family garage in Santa Cruz, California. His first helmet, the Bell 500, was made of fibreglass and had a revolutionary design. It was much lighter and safer than the leather helmets that were in use at the time.
